Dear KCTE/LA Members and Friends,
We love having you as a part of our organization. Thank you for being a part of our Annual Conferences, writing contests, awards, and grants! Check out the rest of the website for further information on each of these items.
We are here to serve YOU! Our Annual Conference is a wonderful time of learning nd networking. It also provides you with ideas and resources to augment what you are already doing in your classroom with some new ideas to help students be college and career ready.
With Dr. Holliday as our Opening Featured Speaker, we have the latest news on the PGES (our new evaluation system) and other happenings at the Kentucky Department of Education. Speaking of our conference, please consider being a Presenter or a Presider at our next conference. The ingenuity of Kentucky teachers never ceases to amaze me – we have some of the best teachers in the nation, right here in our Commonwealth. Please consider sharing what you do, with others.
In addition to our Annual Conference, KCTE/LA has a newsletter and a journal (the Kentucky English Bulletin). Both of these have great classroom resources, as well as articles for professional growth.
Furthermore, we have writing contests for students, and grant/award opportunities for teachers. The Stephanie Kirk Award gives a teacher $500 for an innovative classroom idea. Who wouldn’t like some money to use in their classroom? We also have the KCTE/LA Teacher of the Year Award. This is based on grade levels: Elementary, Middle, High, and College. Each level honors an exemplary teacher with a plaque, recognition at the Conference luncheon, and a free one-year membership to KCTE/LA. Please nominate someone you know for this award!
As we are here to serve YOU, please utilize what we have! If you have ideas for other opportunities for our teachers, or just a question or comment, please let me know at President@kcte.org .
